 Manners

Manners

What has happened to manners in today's society? When I was a child if I didn't say please--- thank you--- yes sir--- yes mam, all the appropriate mannerisms it was called to my attention by my parents.
I was taught that manners are essential in the process of growing up. They drilled this into my psyche until I did it all according to whatever situation that was appropriate. That is why I recognize bad manners for what they are in a today world. I hardly ever hear kids using good mannerisms. Manners are a sign of good rearing by loving parents.
We don't use good manners for recognition it is just the right thing to do. Manners reflect our social and spiritual outlook on life. Being cheerful and projecting good manners well pay in the long run, maybe not always financially, but always respectfully.
Sometime bad manners, and bad behavior are displayed by people you’ d think should know better. Adults are guilty a lot of times of the lack of manners and young adults are worse than children sometimes.
When I am at a convenient store making a purchase, and the clerk is standing there on the telephone then happen to notice you and began to ring up your purchase, I say “Pardon me, I didn't mean to interrupt you.” Now I ask you is this good manners on my part? Was it bad manners for her to continue talking on the phone while ringing up my purchase? Don't these people know that they well probably grow up someday. I mean if they don't wind up on death row.
You well be hard pressed to find a friendly convenient store clerk. Most store clerks act like you are bothering them even if they are not talking on the phone, it is just bad manners, bad behavior and bad for business.
When you are at a restaurant and the waitress comes by and ask you if you need something, and you decided you wanted more ice tea. Do you thank her when she brings it? Yes, they are displaying commercial affection by being extra nice. Yes, they are working for tips, but as long as they are using proper manners with you, commercial are not, they deserved to be thanked for any extra service they provide for you.
It just makes me feel good to hear someone thank me.
The ones who thank me get my return business, the one who don't, well good luck to them ever seeing me in their store or restaurant again.
Manners in today's society for the most part are scarce. It’s always good to observe them especially among the younger folks. Maybe manners have a chance to exist in the next generation if it does the world well be a better place to live in and I bet the convenience stores and the restaurants well be nice and full.

Morning People are a Rare Breed

I have not always been a morning person. I use to love to steal extra moments’ sleep before I actually climb out of bed to get ready for work. I would hit the snooze button on the clock radio at least three or fore times until I did actually get up. Then I was only motivated by breakfast.

This was when I was a young person having to face the reality of working for a living. I still work for a living however, I don't hit the alarm clock snooze button. No need to do it anymore. I have beaten the clock up for years now.

Somewhere somehow as my body aged, I became a morning person. I go to bed with the chickens, always about 8:00. I set my alarm for 4:15 but unless I forget to turn it off, I never near it. I am wide awake and out of bed by 2:00 am. Pardon my pun but it’s like clock work. I am used to it. I have been doing this for years.

In the years after gradually evolving into a morning person, I found myself, pondering what to do with this early morning time. I use to waste it by watching Television are listing to radio talk shows or just read a good book. With the advent of the computer and the Internet I discovered a whole new world. What a great invention this is. Being a morning person can be a plus with the computer taking us across the word in an instant. I still listen to talk shows and I still read, but I do it all on computer. I am not saying that I spend every early morning hours on the computer—I don't. I do house work and work on other hobbies.

The early serenity and stillness are priceless. I feel like I own the word. Anticipating the day looking forward to it welcoming it with open arms whether I have to work or not. I found that this is a good attitude to develop. No one is promised tomorrow, so why not embrace the day and be glad you there to see it began.

It is quite possible that I might have been born with the early rising gene. My grand mother was most always up before 4:00 had a wash going and breakfast on the stove. It might of been the bacon frying that triggered the gene to get out of my warm bed.
.
Morning people are truly a rear breed. We have to take care of all the sleep-later’s in our life, like my beloved Grandmother; have their breakfast ready for them and a warm fire in the stove, when they rise out of their slumber.
In today society we all need adequately sleep. I realize that sleep pattern's vary with each individual. I expect mine is all messed up, and I may not be getting enough sleep, but it is my pattern and has been for years, and most likely will always be. I have learned to live with it, and getting any sleep at all I can I look at it as a gift. I will continue to enjoy the my mornings, and look at it as a gift also, relishing the days birth, always enjoying it.
The early bird catches the worm. This is great sediment, and somewhat true. I haven't actually caught any worms but I have caught a lot of pleasure in being up to welcome the day that the lord has made and being glad in it.

 Watching the News

Watching the News

When I sat in front of the Television, I don't care what is on because it quickly puts me into 'snooze' mold. At home at the end of my work day it is pretty much routine. I check my e-mail, play a quick game of on line pool, and by this time I am fighting the urge to dose off and to keep from banging my face on the key board.
My wife has my supper ready about this time and it's to the kitchen for some much needed nourishment. After that it's to my recliner to--- Watch the news.
The evening news comes on in our area 6:00 followed by the national news at 6:30. Sometimes I make it through sometimes I don't. Usually I don't. I wake up and someone on Wheel of Fountain is spinning the wheel and shouting ''Big money, Big money''.
So I ask my wife what happen on the news? She says, "You tell me you watched it." In other words she meant that I watched it in my dreams.
Watching the news has become a cliche in my home because I tell my wife that I am going to watch the news when I want to take a nap, even if the news is not on.
I do want to keep up with current events. I want to know what is going on in the world. I want to know if they have caught Ben Laden. I want to know if they have convicted Sadum Husan. I want to know if Hillary Clinton decided not to run for president in 08.
But my tired body tells me that I would fare better snoozing and I expect that is probably true, I do a lot of it.
Now if you well excuse me, I am going to watch the news. Oh! by the way--- How did the Michael Jackson case turn out?
